Set beneath the towering gum trees of Hervey Range, North Queensland Elite Rodeo delivers a one-of-a-kind, high-energy celebration of Australian rodeo culture. Spectators take in world-class competition from a stunning natural amphitheatre, with lush grassed hillsides, open-air barns, crackling campfires, and the unmistakable atmosphere of North Queensland hospitality.
More than just a rodeo, it’s an immersive experience -where elite athletes, families, travellers, and outback tradition come together under the stars for two action packed days and nights of adrenaline, connection, and authentic country spirit.
2026 will mark our 10th Anniversary... a full decade of grit, horsepower, high-stakes action, and community spirit. What started as a vision to celebrate the rodeo way of life, has grown into one of the most anticipated, respected, and electrifying events on the APRA calendar.

10 YEARS OF NQ ELITE RODEO
What started as a bold vision in 2016 has grown into one of Australia's premier rodeo events. Over the past 10 years, North Queensland Elite Rodeo has evolved from an ambitious idea into a nationally recognised event that attracts the country's best cowboys and cowgirls, thousands of spectators, and visitors from across Australia and overseas.
Throughout the past decade, we've been privileged to welcome some of the biggest names in rodeo, including world-renowned Canadian cowboy Ty Pozzobon, alongside Australian champions and rising stars. We've also been honoured to host performances from country music favourites such as Cody Johnson, helping create an unforgettable experience that extends well beyond the arena.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors. We are deeply grateful to those businesses that believed in our vision from day one and have stood beside us every step of the journey, as well as the many new partners who have joined the Elite Rodeo family along the way. Their commitment, together with the dedication of our volunteers, contractors, competitors and loyal patrons, has helped shape Elite Rodeo into the event it is today.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we look back with immense pride on how far we've come and look forward with excitement to the next chapter. The journey has been remarkable, and we're only just getting started.
WHAT'S HAPPENING AT NQER?
2026 LAUNCH
The 2026 Curley Cattle Transport Elite Rodeo Launch, held in June, officially kicked off the countdown to our 10th anniversary event. The launch brought together sponsors, partners, media, competitors, and community members to celebrate the continued growth of the rodeo and unveil exciting plans for 2026.
Guests heard about the expansion of the Tri Nations Junior Rodeo, improvements to the venue, and the strong economic and social benefits the event delivers to the Townsville region. The evening also recognised the invaluable support of our sponsors and volunteers, whose commitment has helped make the Elite Rodeo one of North Queensland's premier events.

The Tri Nations Junior Elite Rodeo has become one of the most exciting and unique features of the Elite Rodeo program, bringing together the next generation of rodeo talent from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
